AOC takes on Ramaswamy over GOP's campaign rhetoric and proposals: 'It's an incel platform, dude'

U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to make the rounds in the political conversation as a result of testy engagements with adversaries, mainly on social media.

The latest episode involved another answer to former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who criticized Democrats for arguing their opponents "are weird."

"This whole argument from the Democrats is dumb & juvenile. This is a presidential election, not a high school prom queen contest. It's also a tad ironic coming from the party that preaches 'diversity & inclusion.' Win on policy if you can, but cut the crap please," Ramaswamy said on X. It was not clear whether he was making reference to a specific event.

AOC replied in the same platform. "Being obsessed with repressing women is goofy. Punishing people who don't have biological offspring is creepy. It's an incel platform, dude. It's SUPER weird. And people need to know," said the lawmaker, whose reply garnered over 13,000 republications.

AOC has made it a habit of taking on Ramaswamy and other Republican figures on social media. After the former candidate sent a message to college students at his RNC speech earlier this month, she replied that "young people don't take well to bigoted leaders who attack LGBTQ+ rights, outlaw abortion, cozy up to gun manufacturers+ oil execs, and support a rapist for President." "If you want to be cool so badly, try giving a damn about other people beyond yourself. Might open a few doors," she added.

Another virtual clash involved AOC mocking Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance over what she described as a flop during a campaign speech, comparing him to former GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush "in the worst way possible."

During a rally in Middletown, Ohio, Vance was delving into partisan culture wars, saying that "Democrats believe it's racist to do anything." "I had a diet Mountain Dew yesterday and one today. I'm sure they're going to call that racist too," he added before laughing.

AOC mocked the reaction to the joke, comparing it with an infamous clip from Jeb Bush, who during his short-lived 2016 presidential bid told his audience to "please clap" after a passage of his speech was met with a period of silence.

AOC has also pledged her support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's nominee, same as the vast majority of the party.
