U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) mocked Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance over what she described as a flop during a campaign speech, comparing him to former GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush "in the worst way possible."

During a rally in Middletown, Ohio, Vance was delving into partisan culture wars, saying that "Democrats believe it's racist to do anything." "I had a diet Mountain Dew yesterday and one today. I'm sure they're going to call that racist too," he added before laughing.

AOC mocked the reaction to the joke, comparing it with an infamous clip from Jeb Bush, who during his short-lived 2016 presidential bid told his audience to "please clap" after a passage of his speech was met with a period of silence.

"I think the next president needs to be a lot quieter but send a signal that we're prepared to act in the national security interests of this country -- to get back in the business of creating a more peaceful world," he had said before asking listeners to clap, prompting applause and awkward laughter.

The Democratic lawmaker has been active in the political scene over the past, eventful weeks. She also mocked Vance after being selected by GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump as his running mate, saying on X "Does anyone else remember that JD Vance daylight savings tweet." She was making reference to a 2020 publication where he said that "as a parent of young children and a nationalist who worries about America's low fertility I can say with confidence that daylight savings time reduces fertility by at least 10 percent."

AOC has also pledged her support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's nominee, same as the vast majority of the party.

In a social media post, the lawmaker added that "now more than ever, it is crucial that our party and country swiftly unite to defeat Donald Trump and the threat to American democracy." "Let's get to work," her message concludes.

AOC's endorsement comes after she had warned about a lack of "consensus" within the party regarding who the candidate should be in case President Joe Biden dropped out.

However, on Sunday she joined the wave of Democrats pledging their endorsement. Harris has now won more than enough delegates to become the presidential nominee.
