Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has expressed strong criticism towards US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle for the lack of answers regarding the recent assassination attempt on a former US president. Ocasio-Cortez emphasized that it has been 10 days since the incident and stressed the importance of obtaining clarity and information, regardless of political affiliations.
The New York lawmaker highlighted the necessity for lawmakers to potentially consider policy or legislative changes in response to the shooting. She emphasized that this is a critical moment that requires serious policy decisions to be made promptly.
Ocasio-Cortez underlined the significance of having a detailed report on the assassination attempt, stating that without it, decision-makers are essentially operating without crucial information, which she described as 'flying blind.'
In response to the criticism, Cheatle acknowledged that while a comprehensive report may take approximately 60 days to finalize, she asserted that immediate action is imperative and that she is not waiting for the report to initiate necessary measures.
