Online electrical retailer AO has moved into a new logistics warehouse in South Lanarkshire creating more than 1,000 new jobs.
The company moved from its previous depot at Canderside Toll Distribution Centre to a 20,000 sq ft site on Strutherhill Industrial Estate.
It made the investment invested in the South Lanarkshire area, following the shift in shopping habits with more customers buying their appliances online.
Over the last two years, the retailer has increased its warehousing capacity by more than 80%, rapidly growing its distribution network and creating more than 1,000 logistics jobs across the business.
The new site has created eight new jobs for people across South Lanarkshire, and there will be several positions available in the delivery driver crews.
David Ashwell, managing director at AO Logistics, said: “I’m so pleased that we’re able to invest in Larkhall and move to a bigger site in the area - the rapid expansion of AO Logistics is really a testament to the hard work of our people.
"The new depot is in an ideal location to support our future growth as a business – we’ll be able to serve our customers in South Lanarkshire even better than before and it means we’re securing the best infrastructure for the future.”
