Anya Taylor-Joy is set to make a return to Netflix screens in an upcoming series based on Bella Mackie's novel, 'How to Kill Your Family.' The actress, known for her roles in 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Story,' 'The Menu,' and 'Last Night in Soho,' will portray the lead character, Grace Bernard, a vengeful daughter seeking retribution.
Taylor-Joy previously captivated audiences in the hit series 'The Queen's Gambit,' a chess thriller that garnered immense popularity on Netflix. The show ranked number one in 63 countries, including the U.K., Argentina, and South Africa, with over 62 million accounts tuning in within the first 28 days of its release.
The adaptation of Mackie's novel will be an eight-episode series produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd, the same production company behind the acclaimed series 'Killing Eve.' The story follows Grace, the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man who abandoned her and her mother in their time of need. Determined to seek revenge, Grace embarks on a mission to eliminate every member of her father's family, saving him for last.
The series will be helmed by lead writer Emma Moran, known for her work on 'Extraordinary,' and will feature a stellar lineup of executive producers, including Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Lee Morris from Sid Gentle Films, as well as Taylor-Joy herself for LadyKiller.
Taylor-Joy expressed her excitement about the project, stating, 'As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life.' Mackie also shared her enthusiasm, praising Taylor-Joy as the perfect fit for the role of Grace.
The announcement of the series was made at the Edinburgh TV Festival, where Netflix unveiled a slate of upcoming projects. Further details, including additional cast members, will be disclosed in the near future.
