Anushka Sharma in pink or Sagarika Ghatge in gold: Who was a prettier Sabyasachi bride?

With Anushka Sharma’s princess-like wedding look now in plain sight, we can’t help but be reminded of another beautiful Sabyasachi lehenga worn by actor Sagarika Ghatge, recently.(Instagram)

On Monday, Anushka Sharma finally stepped out in her wedding lehenga, and it was as breathtaking as expected. The pale pink Sabyasachi creation featured a voluminous skirt with fairytale-esque embroidery and embellishments. The Sultan actor topped it off with ethereal, traditional jewellery — a mathapatti, layered necklaces and jhumkas in jadau, pearls and pink spinel — also by the designer. The overall look was simply stunning.

With Anushka’s princess-like wedding look now in plain sight, we can’t help but be reminded of another beautiful Sabyasachi lehenga, recently worn by an actor for her wedding with a famous cricketer.

Chak De! India actor Sagarika Ghatge, who married cricketer Zaheer Khan on November 22, went for a classic bespoke Sabyasachi sari on her big day and slipped into a lehenga by the designer for her reception on November 27. Obviously, there are some major differences: Anushka’s lehenga was for a day wedding in Florence, while Sagarika wore a voluminous, but easy to manoeuvre, ivory and gold lehenga for her wedding reception in Mumbai.

While the two actors proved with their elegance and effortlessness that timelessness was key, when it came to Sabyasachi’s wedding style, both the looks were pretty different. We’re breaking down Anushka’s royal wedding lehenga vs the royal-ish lehenga Sagarika wore to her wedding reception. Brides-to-be, these are the Sabyasachi-looks to bookmark for your wedding. Sagarika wore a heritage Benarasi lehenga hand-embroidered with zardosi along with a Maheshwari dupatta.

She paired the look with classic uncut diamonds and pearl jewellery crafted in 22k gold from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection.

Anushka wore a pale pink lehenga with renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads.

Anushka completed her bridal look with Sabyasachi uncut diamond, baroque Japanese cultured pearls and pale spinel choker, earrings and mathapatti.
