£85 million Manchester United flop Antony is on the verge of securing a loan move to La Liga outfit Real Betis.
Antony transfer news: Verbal agreement between United and Betis ‘imminent’
United fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Antony is finally on his way out the door following almost three years of what many would describe as one of the most disappointing individual periods in club history.
The Brazilian arrived on the back of a strong recommendation from his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, but failed to live up to expectations and he’ll go down as one of, if not United’s worst signing of all-time.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Antony’s move to Real Betis is expected to be finalised following Sunday afternoon’s clash with Brighton at Old Trafford where he is listed on the bench.
The deal is strictly on loan until the end of the season and there is no option or obligation to buy clause included, while United will pay a portion of his salary as he attempts to revive his career in Spain.
The 24-year-old has not started a Premier League game this season and he’s made just seven appearances as a substitute – and offloading part of the club’s hefty wage bill could lead to a new arrival before the end of the window.

Manchester United’s worst ever signings: Where does Antony rank?
Touching down in Manchester with an £85 million price tag, it’s safe to assume Antony is probably United’s worst buy ever with a return of just 12 goals in 95 matches.
There have been one too many failures in the transfer window since the Glazer era began and he’s got company alongside the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Angel Di Maria, Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho.
According to WhoScored, Antony has been shown more yellow cards (10) than he has directly contributed to Premier League goals (8) during his time at the club.
