Antony has already explained what he will bring to Manchester United following transfer

Manchester United have announced that they have reached a transfer agreement with Ajax to sign the Brazil international Antony.

The winger, who arrived in Manchester on Monday, will join the Reds, subject to passing a medical, finalising personal terms and securing international clearance. He will join the club in a deal worth up to €100million (£85.5m), making him their second-most-expensive signing of all-time.

United manager Erik ten Hag has been chasing Antony all summer and pinpointed him as the ideal candidate to strengthen his side's attacking options. They worked together at Ajax and the 22-year-old blossomed under the Dutchman's management

He was nothing short of outstanding last season, scoring ten goals and grabbing 12 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions. Two of his ten goals and four of his 12 assists came in just seven Champions League appearances, highlighting that he has the credentials to perform at the very highest level.

Equipped with blistering pace and a wand of a left-foot, Antony is also blessed with silky skills and excellent ball-control. It is his flamboyant style and tricks and flicks that make him such a joy to watch.

At times, he has been criticised for going too far with his flamboyancy, but the Brazilian has shrugged off the criticism in the past, highlighting that he plans to show his opponent who the "boss" is. Therefore, he has the potential to become a real crowd-pleaser in M16.

"There will always be people who think the tricks are really cool and people who disapprove of them," Antony told De Telegraaf. "I think my actions are functional, because I want to show the opponent that I'm the boss. And often it results in a goal or an assist.

"So I don't really care what others think. Regardless of the praise or the criticism, I keep my focus."

Since joining Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020, the Brazilian has gone from strength-to-strength, becoming one of the most exciting, eye-catching wingers in Europe. He leaves Ajax having scored 24 goals and racking up 22 assists in 82 appearances.
