Antony drops hint over Manchester United playing role vs Arsenal

Manchester United's new signing Antony has dropped a hint over his playing role against Arsenal this afternoon.

The Brazilian winger was officially confirmed as a United player on deadline day, having made the switch from Ajax for an initial fee of €95m. His former club had been unwilling to sell their star winger to Erik ten Hag this summer especially considering how late it was in the window.

However, Antony helped push through the move having made himself unavailable for selection for the Amsterdam club. This move angered Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder and eventually his hand was forced.

Due to the timing of his registration as a United player, Antony had to watch on as his new teammates secured their third victory in a row away at Leicester City. Jadon Sancho scored the only goal of the game as Ten Hag's side continued to recover from their shaky start.

Ten Hag may look to rotate his United side today (Sunday) after they played their first midweek fixture of the campaign. With that in mind, Antony's Twitter activity this morning may have suggested he will be playing a significant role against Mikel Arteta's team.

Captioning a short clip: "New history," Antony appeared to suggest that his debut could be on its way for United. The clip, which included stock footage of Old Trafford and United supporters, also featured the kick off time in the UK and his home country Brazil.

United will be hoping to end Arsenal's 100 per cent start to the campaign later at the Theatre of Dreams. Kick off is at 4:30pm, UK time.
