Antonio Valencia sends emotional message following Manchester United return vs Wolves

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia returned to Old Trafford at the weekend as he watched his former side beat Wolves 2-0 at Old Trafford.

The Ecuadorian was back to watch his old side as they took a big step towards Champions League qualification. Erik ten Hag's men ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho.

Valencia spent a decade at Old Trafford after signing for Sir Alex Ferguson in 2009 and departing 10 years later in 2019. He won two Premier League titles during his time with the club.

Valencia wrote a touching message on Instagram about returning to United, and Ten Hag's side delivered the goods on the pitch to make it a great return for the former winger.

"It was a wonderful day," he wrote. "I really enjoyed today’s game, receiving the love from the fans is priceless.

"I thank Manchester for the love towards me, the respect and admiration is mutual, this city will always mean a lot in my life."

During his time with the Reds, Valencia won six major honours - including the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup. He arrived from Wigan as a right-sided winger, but soon transitioned to right-back and went on to captain United from 2018 to 2019 before leaving for LDU Quito.
