Ebony Antonio has produced a match-winning goal-of-the-year contender to lift Fremantle to a thrilling six-point AFLW victory over the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval.

The Bulldogs, aided by a strong breeze, dominated for long periods in the final term of Tuesday night's match and closed to within a point early in the quarter.

Fremantle dug deep to maintain the one-point lead, and Antonio produced the match-winning play with just under four minutes remaining.

After dropping a chest mark, Antonio tapped the ball forward twice while being harassed by defender Sarah Hartwig.

When Hartwig fell over, Antonio scooped up the ball and threw it on her right foot while being tackled by Jessica Fitzgerald.

Antonio celebrated wildly as the ball sailed through, giving the Dockers a vital seven-point buffer.

Bulldogs forward Bonnie Toogood sprayed a set shot a short time later to reduce the margin to six points, and it proved to be the home side's final chance.

The 3.7 (25) to 2.7 (19) win improves Fremantle's record to 5-0, while the Bulldogs are 0-3.

Fremantle midfielder Kiara Bowers finished with 20 disposals and 12 tackles, while debutant forward Amy Franklin booted two goals in an impressive display.

Kirsty Lamb battled hard for the Bulldogs with 15 possessions and a goal, while Ellie Blackburn tallied 19 disposals and came close to kicking a goal on two occasions.

Bulldogs youngster Gemma Lagioia suffered a game-ending concussion in the second quarter after a sling tackle from Emma O'Driscoll, who could find herself in strife from the match review panel.

Fremantle's Matilda Sergeant went off in the third term after her head was crunched into the turf by a hard tackle from behind from Jemima Woods.

The Dockers won the inside 50m count 15-2 on the back of a strong breeze in the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs' dogged defence ensured no goals were scored for the term.

It was the Franklin show early in the second quarter as the Fremantle debutant booted two goals in the space of a minute, giving the Dockers a 14-point edge.

But the Bulldogs hit back hard and were rewarded with goals to Toogood and Lamb approaching halftime.

The third quarter was a goalless affair, with the Dockers blowing a series of good chances to hand the ascendancy back to the Bulldogs who turned for home trailing by just three points and with the breeze at their backs.

They peppered the goals early in the term, but Antonio pulled a rabbit out of a hat in the dying minutes to kill off the home side's hopes.
