Antonio Conte is due to receive a £4million pay off if, as expected, his Tottenham exit is finalised this week.
The Italian is set to be relieved of his duties following his extraordinary rant on Saturday after the draw with Southampton. Conte labelled his players as "selfish" and attacked the club and their owner, who have presided over an era that has yielded little success.
Conte's rant could now cost him with his contract due to expire in the summer. He is on a £15m-a-year deal in north London and his early exit is set to see him pocket £4m - for the final three months of his deal - whilst his staff will also have to be paid off. Spurs chiefs have spent the last few days drawing up an exit strategy with Ryan Mason potentially set to take charge for the remainder of the season.
Tottenham did hold another 12 month option in the Italian's contract, but there is absolutely no desire - on either side - to extend their time together.
Conte has currently returned to his homeland during the international break, but may have taken charge of Tottenham for the final time. It leaves Daniel Levy looking for another new manager with his latest high profile appointment unable to bring silverware to north London.
Tottenham have 10 league games remaining this term as they look to secure fourth spot and a place in next season's Champions League. Newcastle and Liverpool are chasing them down with the north Londoners continuing to be inconsistent following recent exits in Europe and the FA Cup.
Mason has previously led the first-team, winning four of his seven games after replacing Jose Mourinho in 2021. Potential candidates are already being identified as Levy looks to appoint another new manager - the 11th of his time at the top of the club.
Mauricio Pochettino is among the names to be linked with the role following his successful stint at the club between 2014 - 2019. Opinions are mixed as to whether the Argentine should return for a second spell having encountered issues previously regarding the club's investment in the squad.
Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel, two men who are out of a job, have also been named as potential successors to Conte. Roberto De Zerbi and Marco Silva have both excelled in the Premier League with Brighton and Fulham respectively and are also options.
Tottenham are also dealing with uncertainty surrounding their captain and talisman Harry Kane, who will enter the final year of his deal this summer. The striker has previously angled for a move away and Manchester United are linked with his services as he eyes the first trophy of his career.
