Antonio Conte’s refusal to commit his long-term future to Tottenham could be having an impact on his players, says Jamie Redknapp.
The Italian has consistently called for time after a difficult run of form but has so far proved dismissive when the prospect of a new contract has been raised.
Currently, Conte’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and links with a return to Juventus have often emerged throughout his time in north London.
After Sunday’s home defeat to Newcastle, the 53-year-old warned fans his Spurs team need more time and money to start competing at the top of the Premier League.
Booed off in the rain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs look some way off the title challengers many predicted them to be after a busy summer of transfer activity.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former Spurs midfielder Redknapp said: “He is talking about the process taking a few years but I think I am right in saying that he has only got until the summer when his contract ends.
"He is a manager who works in short bursts. He goes in somewhere for three years, wins, and then normally he goes somewhere else.
"It is not an easy conversation to have but if we are talking about process, if I am a player there you need to know that he wants to be there and he is part of that process. Normally, a manager of his ilk would be signed up by now.”
