Antonio Conte in ruthless Tottenham decision as squad jet out for South Korea tour

Antonio Conte has excluded four big-name first-team players from Tottenham’s pre-season tour of South Korea.

Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks will all remain at the club’s Hotspur Way training base as the rest of the squad jet out to Asia.

Ndombele, the club’s record signing until the £60m arrival of Richarlison, spent the latter half of last season on loan at Lyon, departing north London under a cloud after being booed off while leaving the pitch at walking pace during an FA Cup win over Morecambe in January.

The Frenchman has three years to run on his £110k-per-week contract and had previously held talks with Paris Saint-Germain about a potential move, although the French giants did not firm up their interest earlier this year.

Lo Celso, another expensive signing made in the summer of 2019, was also farmed out on loan, though his spell with Villarreal proved more successful than Ndombele’s back in France.

Still, with Yves Bissouma having been signed in central midfield only months after Rodrigo Bentancur’s arrival, the Argentine would not appear to have a natural place in the squad.

Winks, meanwhile, is of interest to Everton and has been made available for sale this summer, while Reguilon has fallen further down the pecking order following the signing of Ivan Perisic.

Tottenham will play a K-League all-star team on July 13 before playing Sevilla three days later
