Antonio Conte got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, after his Tottenham Hotspur side defeated Leeds United by four goals to nil.
Before the contest, the Italian coach was in the headlines due to his honest midweek response to his team's 1-0 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor.
Conte was unhappy and made a series of changes to face Leeds on Saturday, with Matt Doherty - who replaced Emerson Royal - amongst the players to be presented with a start.
The 30-year-old scored the opening goal of the match on the 10th minute, and he also registered an assist for the second goal of the contest, scored by Dejan Kulusevski.
Doherty isn't perhaps as talented as Emerson, but he could be deemed as more suitable to what Conte requires from his wing-backs in a tactical sense, and the same could be said about Ryan Sessegnon on the opposite flank.
Throughout his managerial career, the 52 year-old has demanded offensive returns from his wing-backs. From Achraf Hakimi at Inter Milan to Victor Moses at Chelsea to Kwadwo Asamoah at Juventus, Conte has fielded players who can contribute at the business end of the pitch.
Sergio Reguilon and Emerson are more established performers on the European stage than Doherty and Sessegnon, but the latter pairing seem naturally inclined to provide a scoring threat in the final third.
When Doherty achieved promotion to the Premier League with Wolves in 2018, he went on to score four goals while registered five assists. One year later, he posted another four goals alongside three assists.
The Irishman has his limitations, but he's also a specialist and could suit Conte and Spurs for the remainder of the campaign.
The story is similar for Sessegnon, although he's considerably younger than Doherty and could occupy the role throughout Conte's tenure if he continues to impress.
As a 17 year-old at Fulham, the Englishman scored an incredible total of 15 goals in the Championship - including zero penalties - while registering six assists. He performed as a left-sided threat throughout the season, having been deployed as a full-back, wing-back and attacker.
Conte is still searching for the right balance for Spurs but in Doherty and Sessegnon, he might have stumbled across a suitable wing-back duo for the rest of the season.
