Antonio Conte gives update on Tanguy Ndombele's Tottenham future amid PSG January transfer talk

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has stated that he hopes the club listen to him after providing them with his evaluation of Tanguy Ndombele.

Signed by Mauricio Pochettino in the summer of 2019 in a club-record move from French side Lyon, Spurs just haven't seen the best of the talented Frenchman in his three seasons in the capital.

In and out of the team during the opening couple of months of the campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, the 25-year-old has only appeared in two Premier League games for Conte since the managerial switch in November.

Handed a start earlier in the month in the FA Cup third round clash against Morecambe, Ndombele didn't have an impact on proceedings and was duly hooked after 69 minutes.

Despite the fact Spurs were trailing 1-0 with limited time left in the contest, the French international took an age to exit the pitch and subsequently slowed down even more when boos started to ring around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Training away from the first-team squad at Hotspur Way over the past week or so, all eyes are now on Ndombele to see what happens ahead of this month's transfer deadline.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a loan move for the midfielder, which would see him reunited with former Spurs boss Pochettino in the French capital.

Asked in his pre-match press conference about Ndombele's future, Conte, who recently concluded his evaluation of the Tottenham squad, has revealed that he has spoken to the club about the player.

"Honestly, I prefer to speak about this topic always with the club," revealed the Italian.

"For sure, I made evaluations about the squad but I have spoken with the club and I hope the club will listen to me."

Ndombele wasn't in the matchday squad for Wednesday's game against Leicester but Conte looks set to boosted by the return of one of his players away at Chelsea on Sunday.

Eric Dier is available again after a muscular problem and will be in contention to come straight back into defence after not featuring since New Year's Day.

"Today is Friday and for sure after the game against Leicester we are trying to manage a couple of situations with fresh injuries," he added. "For sure we have tomorrow to make the right decision about a couple of our players.

"Eric Dier today had a good training session with us and is available. Sonny not yet, we have to wait but he’s recovering very well. We have to wait until after the international break."
