Antonio Conte explains Manchester United decision
Antonio Conte insists he was never in contention to manage Manchester United this season and has played down claims he did not fit the profile of candidate they were looking to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The current Tottenham manager was one of the many names to be linked with the managerial position at Old Trafford last year as pressure mounted on the Norwegian before his sacking.
Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo following Spurs' 3-0 home defeat to United last October, though Solskjaer was also sacked three weeks later after a dreadful spell form in the Premier League was compiled by a 4-1 defeat to Watford.

The Italian has found times in the English capital difficult in his second stint in the Premier League. But his Spurs will be looking to build on their 5-0 win over Everton on Monday when they travel to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Cavani's injury struggles laid bare
Edinson Cavani has admitted dealing with injury this season 'hasn't been easy'. The Uruguayan has missed large parts of this campaign through injury and waited until October to open his goal account for the season against Saturday's opponents, Spurs.
Cavani was a surprise absentee for United's match against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. Ralf Rangnick declared Cavani fit on the eve of their clash, but the centre-forward was eventually ruled out of the derby due to fitness concerns.
The 35-year-old has been plagued with an ongoing groin problem all campaign and he's been forced to miss United's last six matches. The striker's absence at the Etihad means he's been unavailable for 56 per cent of United's fixtures across all competitions.
