Antonio Conte drops hint over Inter Milan future after Europa League Final defeat by Sevilla

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte says he will meet with the club's board to discuss his future following the 3-2 Europa League Final defeat by Sevilla.

The Italian was an animated figure on the touchline as he watched his side let an early lead through Romelu Lukaku's penalty go to waste after Luuk de Jong's two headers put the Spanish outfit in front.

Diego Godin's header brought the Nerazzurri back into contention before Lukaku missed a one-on-one and scored a late own goal to end Inter's chances of European glory in Cologne.

Former Chelsea coach Conte, who took over at the San Siro in May 2019, guided the Serie A giants to second in Serie A in 2019/20 as well as the Europa League Final.

But his future has been plunged into doubt over public disagreements with the club's hierarchy - and Conte hinted he could be heading for the exit after thanking the club for a "wonderful" opportunity.

“Now we have to get back to Milan, will take two or three days off, then with cool heads [Conte and the board] will meet," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"It’s only right that we analyse the entire season, look at everything in a very calm way, and try to plan the future of Inter, whether it’s with or without me.

“I don’t know [what will happen]. We worked hard, it was a very tough season in many ways, so it’s only right to take a little rest, face the situations and make the decision that is best for Inter.

"There is absolutely no bitterness. There might be different views on things, but we’ll evaluate everything.

“It has been difficult and we’ll figure things out. It has been wonderful for me to be the coach of Inter, I thank the owners who allowed me to go through this great experience.

“If I can say one thing: it was worth it and I will always thank those who gave me the opportunity to have this experience.”
