Antonio Conte drills see Harry Kane 'collapse’ during brutal Tottenham pre-season

Antonio Conte has pushed his Tottenham side to the verge of exhaustion as he prepares for his first full season in charge at the club.

The Italian enjoyed a wonderful impact at the club last season as he was eventually appointed as the successor to Nuno Espirito Santo and managed to get the north London side back into the Champions League at the expense of fierce rivals Arsenal.

Ahead of his first full season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he is putting his squad through its paces during a pre-season trip to Seoul, with the sessions pushing players to the limit.

The north London side staged an open training session at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Monday, with fans of course getting a glimpse of players including South Korean icon Son Heung-Min.

According to football.london, a two-hour training session concluded with players being put through repeated runs of the pitch at the stadium, with some feeling the heat more so than others. As per the reports, Tottenham forward Harry Kane alongside Son were just two of the players ‘collapsing’ and then rejoining the group.

A vast number of players did the same though with pictures showing a clutch of the current squad sprawled out or on their haunches at the side of the pitch. It is suggested that young striker Troy Parrott was among those to have lasted the longest before dropping out.

Spurs are set to remain in Korea over the next week as they continue their preparations for next season and have two friendlies scheduled. They at first take on a K-League XI on Wednesday before clashing with Spanish side Sevilla at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.

Ahead of those games, Conte has already revealed what his plan is for the pre-season tour and how it could benefit his side going into the new campaign. Speaking to Spurs’ official website, he said: We started pre-season last week, when we worked very well with the group of players who were with their national teams until the 6th of June.

“We gave more rest to the players who finished (internationals) around 13th of June. Only today, we had the first training session with the whole team.

“We have to start to work together, to continue to improve our idea of football and, for sure, we are starting not from zero, we have a good base now, and it will be very important to accelerate the process for the new players to come into our ideas.

“This week we will work, double sessions and two matches. It will be a good opportunity for all the players, the whole group, to play and for me to use rotation and to bring these players to be fit.”
