Antonio Conte delivers verdict on Spurs' mentality as Jamie Carragher makes top-four race claim

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Monday, February 14.

Tottenham mentality

Spurs boss Antonio Conte admitted he is frustrated with the club's mentality after the north Londoners were defeated 2-0 by Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

The former Chelsea manager said: "The problem is you can't buy a winning mentality, you can only transfer the winning mentality day by day. It is not sure.

"There are players which are more open. Some need more time to understand this. A winning mentality, in my opinion, means I am ready to kill you to live.

"In every situation, when you show better desire than your opponent. When you understand that, the defeat has to hurt you a lot - not a little. This is not simple."

Carragher's verdict

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has had his say on Spurs' last few games and the current top-four race.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: "I said before the show I think it will be tough for them [West Ham] but when you look at it now it hasn’t been the worst weekend for Manchester United.

"It’s been an absolutely terrible four or five days for Tottenham, it really has. But you know, Arsenal, what a result that was away at Wolves, games in hand, there’s no European football, we don’t know how long Manchester United will be in the Champions League, that could play its part.

"At this moment, between those teams and the top three, the gap is huge, week in week out they’re dropping points. It feels like it will go to the wire."

Doherty interview

Tottenham fullback Matt Doherty has delivered his verdict on the club's January transfer business.

"l definitely think it will help," he told the club's official matchday programme ahead of Sunday's clash against Wolves.

"I had it at Wolves where you have a trimmed down squad. You kind of feel like you're always involved. Even if you are on the bench, you feel like you have a chance to come on."
