Antonio Colak sounds Rangers treble alarm after Champions League hell as he eyes Golden Boot to go with silverware

Antonio Colak has admitted he is hungry for success both individually and collectively with Rangers. He picked up the player of the month award for October but wants to pick up so much more between now and the end of the season.

Colak has now set his sights on a domestic clean sweep, after bowing out of the Champions League, and personally he also wants to be Scotland's top gun. Colak confirmed: “We said from the beginning, we have three trophies we can win and we want to win the maximum. It is hard now with the period in the Champions League.

"But we played the period before and qualified for the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven and Union, who are qualifying for the next round. We have shown our quality. We are a big team and we can compete. Unfortunately, the group stage wasn’t so successful and we have to take it with us to make it better next year. Now we can focus on the domestic games and we want to win the next game (St Johnstone).”

The Croatian is out in front in the Ibrox scoring charts and also wants to finish with Scotland’s Golden Boot. He admitted: “Yes, of course. I got it once in Croatia with 20 goals. I know how hard it is to achieve that.

“Now I have had a good start and for me as a striker it is a big thing to win the Golden Boot because every striker wants to have it. For me, as a kid, when I played in tournaments I wanted to be the Golden Boot winner and now it is the same. I am always hungry for that and trophies and personally and with the team I want to win it all.”

Colak has loved slugging it out with Alfredo Morelos and hopes Rangers can agree to keep him at Ibrox next season. The Croatia star has come in and with his goals has dislodged the popular Colombian as the Light Blues’s main striker.

Morelos, like several top Rangers stars, is out of contract in the summer. The club has opened talks over an extension and Colak hopes a deal can be struck because he knows that he has to be at the top of his game to keep Morelos out of the team.

He said: “What he has shown in the past, he has scored so many goals and helped the club to achieve big things. To have players like that in the squad is important because we need to be competitive. We need to have a lot of strikers and players in every position.

“You see now with the team and the injured players we have. We have to try and be competitive in the league and Champions League and cup. We want to play at the highest level and you need players like Alfredo in the team. It would be important for Rangers to keep a player like that but I can’t decide that. For me, as a striker you need competitive players.”
