Antonio Colak sends message to Dundee United dissenters as Rangers hero explains celebration

Antonio Colak admits he sent a Rangers message after he scored at Ibrox amid dissenters from Dundee United's supporters to the minute's silence for The Queen.

The striker celebrated his 29th birthday with a duo of goals, one either side of half time, as Rangers put a stop to their string of defeats in front of a home crowd. It was an action packed Saturday afternoon as Gio van Bronckhorst 's men held on to secure the three points despite the visitors getting one back to put up a fight after 59 minutes of play. But there was unsavoury scenes in Govan before kick-off.

There was a minutes silence before that start of the game, followed by a rendition of 'God Save the King' in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. However, not everybody around the stadium was keen to take part in the silence, with some travelling fans opting to boo before chanting "Lizzie's in a box". And it looked as if Colak decided to respond, gesturing 'shh' the Dundee United support after netting the opener just eight minutes in.

The Croatian frontman made reference his display in his gesture in the post match interview, and insists that it is simply about 'respect'.

Speaking after the clash, Colak said: "We were silent at the start of the game. We all know because of what.

"It is all about respect. That was my emotions because everybody, the whole crowd, over 50,000 in the stadium, everybody had this respect. Some people... It was just a moment, everybody should understand that.

"But after that I think everybody showed the right way of respect."
