Antonio Colak ready for Alfredo Morelos battle in Rangers attack

Antonio Colak.

ANTONIO COLAK is relishing the competition for places at Ibrox as he goes head-to-head with Alfredo Morelos for a Rangers starting spot this season.

The Croatian made his debut for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side on Saturday night as he started against Sunderland just days after clinching a move from PAOK.

Colak will get another chance to show supporters what he can do when Rangers face Blackpool this weekend and fixtures with West Ham and Tottenham are also on the horizon ahead of the new campaign.

Van Bronckhorst will back the 28-year-old to hit the ground running this term as he continues to wait for Morelos and Kemar Roofe to get up to speed following their respective injury concerns.

And Colak is confident he can quickly slot into the Light Blues attack as he sets his sights on a starting spot for the Premiership opener against Livingston and upcoming Champions League qualifiers.

Colak said: “Every league is different and I have to adapt to the Scottish league. I just have to prepare properly and I know I will.

“I want to play for Croatia, I qualified with them for the World Cup and that’s a big target at the end of the year for me. But first I have to do my work here at Rangers.

“If you are playing at big clubs then you will always have quality players in each position. There is always competition.

“There is always a lot of pressure but I am looking forward to working hard and improving.

“I want to be successful. Everybody wants to be successful.

“Alfredo has scored a lot of goals over his time here at Rangers and I want to bring that myself.”
