Croatian striker Antonio Colak has been labeled as 'easily replaceable' as a move to Rangers edges closer. The forward has is a top target at Ibrox this summer but Greek side PAOK are digging their heels over the move.
The Greek Super League outfit are standing their ground on their €3million valuation of Colak, with the Gio van Bronckhorst's side submitting an unsuccessful second offer of €2.3million - with the promise of a sell-on clause and goal bonuses - for the star. But now PAOK are being urged to let the striker go by their ex-player Toni Gonzalez.
The former PAOK midfielder believes that the 28-year-old would be easy to replace if he was to make the move to Rangers this summer. Gonzalez reckons that the striker did not show his maximum potential last season, and is far from irreplaceable, after netting just three goals in 29 games for the Greek giants.
Colak found the net 22 times on loan at Malmo last term. He also scored 26 and 19 respectively during his final two seasons at Rijeka.
And now the ex-PAOK star seems to be urging his former side to let this striker go despite the club being short of attacking options. Speaking to Metropolis 95.5, he said. "We all know how football works.
"Colak is an important player for PAOK. But, last year, he did not prove what he can offer. Lucescu will have to decide what to do.
“I think he is a good footballer. And I am always of the opinion that, when you bring in a player, he should be better than the one you have.
"If you ask me, I can bring you five better than Colak from the Spanish market. From there on, it is another matter whether they will join PAOK. I would demand an amount of over 2 million euros.”
