Antonio Brown Receiving ‘Genuine’ Interest From NFL Teams, Agent Says

While controversial former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown focuses on being a representative of the ownership group for the National Arena League’s Albany Empire team, apparently some NFL teams are expressing “genuine” interest in him, his agent J.R. Rickert told CBS Sports on Thursday.

“He is exploring the right fit,” Rickert said. “I think that he is a multi-talented individual who does everything at a high level, and whatever he commits to, he goes all in.”

This update comes after Brown teased on Twitter that he would be “suiting up” for the Empire’s game on Saturday following four losses in a row.

If Brown were to play on Saturday, it would be the first time he takes the field since January 2022 when he infamously stormed off the field mid-game while playing for the Buccaneers. Brown was released from the team shortly after. He’s continued to spark rumors about potential NFL comebacks since then, with the most recent being the Ravens, but nothing has come to fruition.

Brown was the center of other drama several times throughout his NFL career. He didn’t play in any games with the Raiders after being traded there from the Steelers as he was released amid preseason issues. He played one game with the Patriots during the 2019 season, but was released after he reportedly sent “intimidating text messages” to a woman who claimed that Brown made an “unwanted sexual advance” towards her in 2017.

The former wide receiver was involved in a few lawsuits as well. On Sept. 10, 2019, Brown was accused of sexual assault by former trainer Britney Taylor. The two settled their civil case in April 2021. Most recently, Brown was wanted by police for a misdemeanor battery charge back in December. The charges were later dropped.
