Antoine Griezmann and his France World Cup team talk as message which inspired England exit revealed

Antoine Griezmann's half-time rallying call to his France teammates has been revealed in the wake of their triumph over England.

The Atletico Madrid star put the ball on a plate for Olivier Giroud with a wonderful cross and his attacking peer did the rest during their 2-1 World Cup quarter-final success. Aurelien Tchouameni's goal was initially cancelled out by a Harry Kane penalty but the Tottenham striker couldn't make lighting strike twice as he sailed a second spot-kick over Spurs peer Hugo Lloris' net.

Griezmann wanted more ruthlessness to be shown by the 2018 holders and he told them at the break that this was a once in a lifetime match they couldn't let pass them by. According to L’Équipe, the forward said: "We may never play for a World Cup semi-final again – we all want to live it. We can’t go home tonight guys, we have to do more."

France will play Morroco in the semi-finals for a chance to play Argentina or Croatia - who they defeated in the showpiece four years ago - for the grandest trophy of them all.
