Antique silver bowl produced by Scottish craftsman selling for £700 on eBay

An antique silver bowl that was produced by the Scottish craftsman Dr John Finlayson Laing is currently selling for £700 on eBay.

The "beautiful" item is said to have all the "clear hallmarks" and is free from damage.

Describing the bowl, the seller said that it weighs 880 grams and was produced after 1940.

Those looking to buy the item can find its listing on eBay where it is currently open to bids.

Later in life, the Scottish professional developed an interest in silver work, producing a number of items that would become sought-after antiques over the years.

He was later recognised as an expert on the topic with the seller writing: "The proficiency which he acquired was simply characteristic of the man who seemed to excel in anything to which he turned his mind or hand.
