The wait is almost over for an exciting new road set to transform an Ayrshire town.
Work is progressing on the Maybole bypass which is nearing completion, with the opening of the road just weeks away.
Road chiefs say contractor Wills Bros Civil Engineering are making good progress with the opening.
Fresh images of the bypass taking shape have emerged which show the brand new road which will help divert traffic on the major trunk road away from the town.
Pictures taken by John Campbell show the white lines and markings have been added to a section of the road near to Gardenrose path bridge.
John, a member of the A77 Action Group, has been capturing the progress of the works from when the first digger arrived at the site almost two years ago.
The retired fireman of 30 years has followed closely the works and is getting excited over the multi-million pound project nearing its grand opening.
John told Ayrshire Live: “It has been good to look at all the progress of it, you can see how much work has gone into it and these latest pictures show the public that it is finally getting there.”
A spokesperson for Transport Scotland said:“Keenly anticipated by the local community, contractor Wills Bros Civil Engineering is making good progress towards the opening of the A77 Maybole bypass in the coming weeks so that the benefits of improved road safety and better journey time reliability can be realised.”
