Anti-woke guide to living by James Bond creator 'will fetch up to £17,000'

An anti-woke guide to living by debonair James Bond creator Ian Fleming in the 1960s is up for sale.

The 13-point list warns people to “beware of motorcars with two women in the front seat” and “people who smell”.

Fleming also warns “to tread carefully in the company of moustaches, sideburns and beards”. He jotted the ideas on a notepad while drafting You Only Live Twice.

His final three points are “have nothing to do with correspondence in coloured ink”, “cut down on drink when your eyes get red and on smoking when your breath feels short – don’t worry about cirrhosis or cancer” and “live until you’re dead”.

The 39-page notebook, written in blue and black ink, is being auctioned in Texas tomorrow and is expected to fetch up to £17,000.

Auctioneer Joe Maddalena said: “These documents provide us with an insight that makes 007 seem brand new. We’re allowed to look over the author’s shoulder as Bond is born.”

You Only Live Twice was published in 1964, shortly before Fleming died of heart disease at 56. It and was made into a film starring Sean Connery in 1967.
