'Anti-Rangers' Michael Stewart filleted for 'embarrassing' cup final punditry

Former Aberdeen defender Lee Mair has claimed Michael Stewart made "anti-Rangers" remarks during the Viaplay Cup final.

The ex-Pittodrie centre-back blasted Stewart's commentary of the match as he branded the match "embarrassing" to listen to as an Aberdeen fan.

Stewart was on co-commentary alongside former Rangers full-back Alan Hutton with Rory Hamilton the main commentator for the showpiece final at Hampden.

But Mair was less than impressed by the back-and-forth between Stewart and Hutton as he called for "neutral commentators".

An initial post from Mair on X, formerly Twitter, read: "What’s the script with M.Stewart and A.Hutton on the commentary?

"MS having a go at Rangers all game and AH sticking up for them.🤦🏻‍♂️

"As an Aberdeen fan watching it was embarrassing to listen to, god only knows what the Rangers fans thought!

"Surely should be neutral commentators?"

In a response to a reply discussing the commentary, Mair added: "Arguing like little school kids on tv for a national cup final. Embarrassing to listen to."

And Mair even suggested Stewart was "anti-Rangers with all his comments" as he criticised the commentary.

He added: "Yes Hutton is good. My point was that he had to defend Rangers every 2 minutes due to MS being anti-Rangers with all his comments."

Rangers lifted the Viaplay Cup trophy after James Tavernier's strike in the second half claimed a 1-0 win at the national stadium.
