ANTI-BIKIE police have arrested a woman after an alleged pursuit through the Hunter ended when the stolen car crashed into a gutter.

The operation unfolded after officers from the State Crime Command's specialist Raptor Squad tried to stop an allegedly stolen car at Weston at about 11.30am on Thursday, August 22.

Police gave chase on Government Road when the woman accused of being behind the wheel of the Subaru sedan did not pull over.

The driver allegedly hit speeds of up to 130 kilometres per hour during the pursuit, along roads that had a speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour.

The police case is that the Subaru got a flat tyre during the ordeal and hit a gutter on Swanson Street at Weston, bringing it to a stop.

The 48-year-old woman allegedly tried to flee the crashed car on foot but was captured by Raptor Squad officers.

She was arrested at the scene and taken to Cessnock Police Station, where she was charged with driving a stolen car, police pursuit, driving recklessly or furiously, two counts of having suspected stolen goods in her custody, and two charges relating to the car.

The woman was granted bail by police on strict conditions, and was ordered to front Cessnock Local Court next month.
