Anthropic's AI chatbot Claude says it can help get work done faster by integrating Google Workspace

Anthropic’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Claude is integrating with Google Workspace, promising to help professionals free up time and get work done faster.

The San-Francisco-based company announced on Tuesday that users will no longer have to dig through their emails on Gmail, calendar, or documents, as there will be advanced document search capabilities, Anthropic said.

As well as this streamlined approach to searching through your Google Workspace without having to specify exactly which file you require, Claude will also be able to pull up meeting notes and past correspondence and search other relevant documents for additional context.

Anthropic also announced a tool called Research that can search across both your internal work context and the web.

Shift towards agentic AI

The announcements mark the company’s direction towards agentic AI, technology that aims to perform autonomous actions to assist humans and does not require a human to tell them what to do, as they gather data based on user preference.

Anthropic said that the tech could help students learn new topics by using Claude to analyse learning materials and notes from the classroom while also searching for the latest academic research.

The company said it could also help parents to organise calendar events while also searching the web for weather forecasts and local community events.

Anthropic added that the tools have enterprise-grade security that keeps your data within the user's control and maintains the confidentiality of the user’s company knowledge.

The company said Google Workspace integration is available for early testing in beta to all paid users.

Coming to Europe

Research is not yet available in Europe for the moment, but the company told Euronews Next that it will be available in Europe and worldwide soon, without specifying a date.

The announcements come as Anthropic launches a major European hiring spree. Last week, it announced it was creating more than 100 new engineering, research, sales and business operations roles across Europe.

"We've long planned to deepen our investment [in Europe]," said Daniela Amodei, president and cofounder of Anthropic, in a statement.

"Since launching Claude in Europe last year, we've seen rapid organic growth amongst businesses and consumers alike, confirming the region’s strategic importance to Anthropic's future".
