Anthony Richardson Gets Encouraging Update for Return to Colts Lineup

Anthony Richardson appears to be on track to return to the Colts starting lineup for Week 4 against the Rams.

Indianapolis coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Wednesday that Richardson will take starter reps in practice, which points to him being ready to play. However, the rookie quarterback remains in concussion protocol.

Richardson missed the Colts' Week 3 matchup with the Ravens due to a concussion. He self-reported symptoms of the injury during the previous week's game against the Texans, leaving in the second quarter.

Prior to going into concussion protocol, Richardson completed 30-of-47 passes for 279 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in two games. He added 75 yards and three scores on 15 rushing attempts.

Subbing in for Richardson, Gardner Minshew has thrown for 369 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions on 46-for-69 passing. Last week, the veteran also pulled a Dan Orlovsky by mistakingly stepping out of the end zone for a safety.

Also returning to practice for the Colts this week, but remaining in concussion protocol, is center Ryan Kelly.
