The (very early) legend of Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has escalated faster than many fans and analysts expected it to. The No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL draft was named the team’s starter for Week 1 of the upcoming season by coach Shane Steichen on Tuesday.
Richardson was viewed by many as more of a raw talent with tremendous upside, but it seems he’s impressed on a high level through training camp and early preseason action. Now, the hopeful future face of the Colts franchise will get his opportunity to hit the ground running at the NFL level.
After the news came out that Richardson would be the QB1, fans had all kinds of reactions, and they poured in quickly.

I’m all for this. It will be a rough season, but he needs more game experience to improve and maybe we are so bad that we bring Marvin Harrison Jr to Indy next year!

Only way to get better is by playing. I like the decision. Unless you're sitting behind a HOF (Aaron Rodgers/Farve), or have a HOF Coach (Mahomes/Andy Reid)

Sitting on the bench, and watching doesn't really do much. If Richardson can reach his potential? Watch out!
However, not everyone was a major believer in Richardson or buying into the hype of him being named QB1.
