Anthony Ralston issues Celtic reminder ahead of Dundee United clash

Anthony Ralston issues Celtic reminder ahead of Dundee United clash

ANTHONY RALSTON has urged his Celtic team-mates to keep their foot on the gas as they look to wrap up the Premiership title at Tannadice.

The Parkhead outfit lead Rangers by six points with two games to play and have a vastly superior goal difference, meaning the trophy's destination has effectively already been decided.

A point against Dundee United on Wednesday night would mathematically confirm the title and Ralston reminded his team-mates to approach the game in the usual manner as he urged them to get their title challenge over the line.

"[The preparation] is just the same as we have done all season," he told the Celtic website

"Each game is just as important as the next, so we’ll be going in, looking to play our best football.

"We’re looking to get the three points as we don’t want to take the foot off the pedal now.

“We want to keep going forward and drive on to the end.”

The Scotland internationalist knows Tannadice well, having spent part of the 2017-18 campaign on loan on Tayside, but Ralston insists he will not be reflecting on the season as a whole until the final whistle is sounded this weekend and the Premiership formerly concludes.

"Obviously I had a loan spell there when I was younger, and they were great with me, but I’ll be hoping to go up there and seal it there," Ralston added.

"It would be nice, and a good bus journey back down, I’m sure.

“I’ve not had the chance to look back on anything that’s happened in the season. It’s been a long hard season and we’ve all worked very hard as a team, so it would be nice if we can hopefully get it over the line.

“And in the summer break we can have a wee bit of time to reflect on what’s been an amazing season.

“You look at over the course of the season - you’ve had boys come in from different countries, different cultures, at different times of the season as well, and have had to adapt very quickly to Scottish football.

“Obviously with the gaffer also coming in at the beginning and having to do that, so I think that each to a man, everyone’s been terrific they’ve really contributed to the team in such a positive way and everyone’s played their part.

“I think that’s the most important thing as well, that there’s not been one more than the other.

"Everyone’s played a massive part in this and that’s why I’m looking forward to getting this over the line and we can all celebrate as a team.”
