Manchester United loanee Anthony Martial endured a frustrating debut as Sevilla missed a stoppage-time penalty as they were held by Osasuna.
The Frenchman struggled to make an impact in an uneventful duel before Ivan Rakitic squandered a golden opportunity from 12 yards to move within a point of Real Madrid in the title race.
Martial, who completed his loan switch to La Liga near the end of the January window looked rusty in what was his first start in four months, having been consigned to cameos off the bench by both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
Martial will have welcomed getting competitive minutes under his belt, lasting 76 minutes.
Sevilla failed to cut the gap between themselves and the Liga leaders ahead of Real Madrid welcoming Granada to Santiago Bernabeu.
Lopetegui's attack couldn't muster many standout attacks, with Youssef En-Nesyri carving out their best opening when drifting in behind only to fire straight into the grateful arms of goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.
The 26-year-old could make his home debut next Friday for the visit of Elche.
