Anthony Martial injury latest as Manchester United loanee left out of Sevilla squad

Anthony Martial has been left out of the Sevilla squad to face Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League second leg after being forced off with an injury during Sunday's draw with Espanyol.

Martial, 26, limped off inside half an hour of the stalemate in Barcelona with a suspected hamstring injury, bringing a quick end to what was his fourth successive start for Julen Lopetegui's side.

The Frenchman helped Sevilla to a first-leg win over the Croatian side last week with the third goal in the 3-1 win, having also earlier played a key role in the build-up to Ivan Rakitic's penalty which opened the scoring.

Sevilla president Jose Castro explained why the extent of the Manchester United loanee's injury hasn't been disclosed.

He said via Orgullo de Nervion : "They want to know questions related to injuries, but each club has its strategy.

"We do what we understand is the best. Everything ends up being known before each match.

"I understand everyone, but the club has its own way of proceeding for what it understands to be the ideal, just as other clubs do."

Whilst it remains unclear the severity of the issue, it is enough to see him miss the second leg at the Stadion Maksimir.

Lopetegui said at the weekend: "We're going to analyse the injury, but we can't complain. We're in the middle of the competition and we have to think about the next thing.

"We have to test him and we're going to wait a bit to have knowledge of the extent of the injury."
