Anthony Martial already "impressing" Sevilla team-mates in training despite being "shy"

Anthony Martial is already making a point of silencing his Manchester United doubters having caught the eye of his new Sevilla team-mates in training.

The French forward eventually completed a loan move to the high-flying La Liga side with a week remaining of the January transfer window having initially been left frustrated by United's role in a potential deal.

The 26-year-old made no secret of his desire to depart Old Trafford having found minutes hard to come by this season, but nearly saw a move to Sevilla collapse due to United's substantial demands.

After the Spanish club agreed to cover the attacker's wages in full, a deal was reached. And it appears Martial has wasted no time in settling in and making his mark.

While the club's fanbase are understandably ecstatic at having secured a player of Martial's stature, it appears his new team-mates are equally as excited at what the forward can offer during the second half of their campaign.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte, Sevilla midfielder Oliver Torres explained: “That players of this calibre choose Sevilla says a lot about Sevilla.

"He’s shy… Little by little we’ll have to get him into the banter here… He has things of the great player he is.

"He’s only been here for a few days. We train here at a very high pace, and he’s realised it. He said ‘there’s a lot of running here’".

However, despite the apparent demands of training, Martial appears to have adapted seamlessly to his new surroundings, showcasing clinical finishing that was scarcely witnessed at Old Trafford this season.

Torres added: "In front of goal, if he has the chance, he buries it and that makes the difference."

The French forward only featured in 11 matches for United across all competitions prior to his loan move away, netting one solitary goal in a 1-1 draw with Everton way back in early October.

Despite changes in management at United throughout this season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick and Ralf Rangnick all spending time in the dugout, Martial has invariably struggled to make the grade.

However, that all looks set to change at Sevilla.

The Spanish side, who currently sit second in the La Liga standings four points adrift of table-toppers Real Madrid, pushed to complete a loan deal from the want-away United forward when learning of his desire to seek a new challenge.

After seeing an initial offer rejected amid claims the Premier League outfit were demanding suitors to cover the player's full wages and loan fee, Sevilla appeared to cool their interest.

However, a deal was then finally struck, with the six-time UEFA Cup/Europa League winners, much to Martial's delight.

"It [negotiations] hasn't been easy," the striker revealed. "But from the first day, I knew I wanted to come to Sevilla and we all worked for that to happen.

"The coach [Lopetegui] and the sporting director [Monchi] showed a strong interest in me and that's what convinced me to come here.

"They [Sevilla] wanted me in the past and we kept in touch. They contacted me recently and said I could help them.

"I want to help the club achieve it's aims. We have to be consistent in La Liga and do the best we can knowing that there are other big clubs that want to win the title."
