Anthony Martial absent as Manchester United confirm travelling squad vs Real Sociedad

Anthony Martial has been left out of Manchester United's travelling squad to play Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Martial returned to full training earlier this week and he took part in the first-team session at Carrington on Wednesday morning, but he's not been named in the 23-man travelling squad for the Group E decider in San Sebastian.

United will also be without Jadon Sancho and Antony against Sociedad. Antony was not in the matchday squad against West Ham at the weekend and he was absent from training on Wednesday, just like Sancho.

Addressing Antony's absence against West Ham on Sunday, Ten Hag said: "He is injured. I hope it’s not too bad, I think it’s not too bad. In a couple of days he will be back." Sancho was on the bench at Old Trafford on Sunday and an update on his fitness is expected in due course.

Alejandro Garnacho, Zidane Iqbal, Facundo Pellistri and Shola Shoretire all trained with the first-team at Carrington before the flight to Spain and all four youngsters have been included in the travelling squad for the visit to the Anoeta Stadium.

Tom Heaton is absent again and that has given 19-year-old goalkeeper Radek Vítek the chance to travel with the squad.

United's 23-man travelling squad:

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Dubravka, Vitek.

Defenders: Dalot, Wan-Bissaka, Martinez, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Malacia.

Midfielders: Fernandes, Eriksen, Fred, Casemiro, Van de Beek, McTominay, Iqbal.

Attackers: Ronaldo, Rashford, Elanga, Shoretire, Garnacho, Pellistri.
