Anthony Joshua 's coach thinks a heavyweight title fight against Tyson Fury on December 3 is too soon for his fighter.
Almost a month has passed since Joshua lost out to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time when he was outpointed by the unified champion in Saudi Arabia. 'AJ' was looking to avenge his defeat against Usyk having been outpointed by the Ukrainian last Setpember, but came up short for the second time.
Fury and Joshua are on the the verge of agreeing to a long-awaited fight on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which is the only suitable UK venue for the fight given its retractable roof. Matchroom Boxing boss Eddie Hearn says Joshua has accepted all the terms offered in a non-negotiable deal from Fury's team, and they are now just awaiting a contract.
Joshua's trainer Robert Garcia thinks if the domestic clash does take place, it won't be on December 3 as he told ID Boxing : "I believe if it happens, it won’t happen December 3. I think there’s just not enough time to promote the fight and everything, it might be pushing it too soon, but if it does, we’ll be ready."

"Look, it’s a huge fight, it’s the biggest fight in the UK. So it’s a fight that actually needs to happen, you know, sooner than later, it needs to happen. Would I prefer it to happen two or three fights from now? Yes. Me personally, I’m not a businessman, but I’d rather him take two or three fights before anything huge."
Garcia partnered with Joshua after the Brit was encouraged to part ways with long-time coach Robert McCracken following his first loss to Usyk. The accomplished trainer would rather host Joshua's next training camp at his California gym as opposed to moving to London again, given the other fighters he trains in the US.
"I told them what I think, because of my work in California, I recommended doing the camp here," Garcia told Izquierdazo. “He [Joshua] liked the idea and they will take it into account, but for me to go back [to train Joshua in London] is difficult for me. I have a lot of work, fighters who fight every weekend.
“For me, if you want to know what I think: I think Fury is doing all this to put pressure on [Oleksandr] Usyk to make the unification fight," Garcia added. "It's a great fight and I also think Fury started talking. They have talked about it with Joshua's team, because they told me about it, but it could be part of the strategy of putting pressure on Usyk and thinking that he is losing the opportunity”.
