Anthony Joshua may accept step-aside money if he ‘thinks with his head rather than his c***’, says Eddie Hearn

Anthony Joshua could still accept the offer to step aside for Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, Eddie Hearn has revealed, if he thinks with his head - and not with his manhood.

An offer for the Brit to abandon his rematch clause with Usyk is on the table, with reports suggesting it tops £20million and could include AJ being given the first shot at the future unified champion.

But his promoter, Hearn, has outlined how Joshua will make the final decision on his next fight, as he suggested the step-aside option could be the smarter move.

Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show: “There has been an offer, there have been several discussions with myself.

“I don’t rule it out - I can’t rule it out. That’s not my job. AJ’s the boss, he will rule it out or not rule it out. He’ll have an intelligent conversation - he’s very smart - about the plan. He won’t want to do it.

“A lot of people who know boxing [say that] it’s a very smart move. And then on the other hand it’s, ‘Oh, you’re ducking him’. You can’t win.

“Anthony has never ducked anyone so he won’t want to let even one person think that he’s ducking that challenge because that’s not what he’s about. But sometimes you have to think with your head, rather than your c***.”

Fury, meanwhile, has called out Dillian Whyte after talks continued over their WBC title fight. The heavyweight champion has indicated that Joshua will not take the step-aside, and has teased them for missing out on the huge sums it came with.
