Anthony Joshua accepts Tyson Fury's offer to fight in Cardiff on December 3

Anthony Joshua has accepted an offer from Tyson Fury to fight for the world heavyweight title on December 3, with Cardiff set to be the venue.

Joshua's camp have publicly confirmed all terms of Fury's deal have been accepted, with the champion previously saying the offer to fight in Cardiff on December 3 had been made.

It's understood there would be no issue for the Principality Stadium to be ready to host the event just a week after the final autumn rugby international between Wales and Australia. There is expected to be a cost implication in replacing the grass turf but that is not seen as a barrier to the fight happening in the Welsh capital.

A statement from Joshua's management company, 258MGT, said: "258 and @MatchroomBoxing can confirm, on behalf of @anthonyjoshua, that we accepted all terms presented to us by Fury’s team for a fight Dec 3rd last Friday.

"Due to the Queen’s passing, it was agreed to halt all communication. We are awaiting a response."

Fury's promoter Frank Warren has now confirmed the contract to officially rubberstamp the fight is on its way to Joshua's team soon. Fury had publicly offered Joshua three dates to meet before the end of the year and he has suggested the challenger gets 40 per cent of the purse.

"We had Manchester United football ground booked for November 12 but they're saying that's too short," Fury told talkSPORT. "Even better, we've got Wembley Stadium booked for November 26 and if he doesn't want that I even have December 3 in Cardiff, so take your pick.

"I really want this fight to happen because Usyk the middleweight doesn't want no smoke like I thought he didn't and now I'm going after AJ. I've already beaten Wilder and there's only one other person and that's AJ the bodybuilder.

"Why not give him 40 per cent, no excuses, let's get the fight made for the British public. the Battle of Britain, who's going to win it, me or him? He only had a sparring contest [against Usyk] didn't he? He's match fit, coming off a training camp. I've seen they're trying to wriggle a bit with the dates."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn believes the fight can only take place in the UK in Cardiff at that time of year, because of the Principality Stadium's closed roof. Joshua had wanted to meet later in December but has now accepted the December 3 date. Cardiff would have been unable to host the fight in November because of the four rugby internationals taking place against New Zealand, Argentina, Georgia and the Wallabies.

The fight will be arguably the biggest fight in British boxing history, with the Welsh Rugby Union thought to be very keen on hosting it.
