Oscar-winning Welsh actor Sir Anthony Hopkins has hinted his next career move could be a journey in the Tardis. The well-loved actor from Margam is known for his many roles including Richard the Lionheart and stunning audiences as Benedict XVI in The Two Popes.
While Sir Anthony's credits are extensive there is one show he is yet to star in - BBC's Doctor Who, which next year celebrates its 60th birthday and is filmed primarily in Wales.
This might be set to change as a recent Instagram post from Sir Anthony got Whovians all excited. Posting a photo of him standing in a red phone box, which could be seen as a sideways nod to the Doctor Who Tardis, an old school Police Box, and told fans he wanted to be "put through to Doctor Who."

He captioned the post: "Put me through to Doctor Who. Need instructions on my next mission. Happy Sunday from across the pond." followed by a wink face emoji. Many fans believe this is Anthony hinting that he might appear in the series and commented on his post.
One said: "You + DW = perfect combo!" followed by a red love heart emoji and fire emoji. Another said: "I SUPPORT THE IDEA! WELCOME TO THE TARDIS" followed by two blue heart emojis.
A third added: "Please, somebody make this incredible guy the next Doctor" and "You could make a magnificent Doctor or... a formidable adversary of him."
Doctor Who is set to receive another special in October and then will undergo some changes. Ncuti Gatwa will take over from Jodie Whittaker in playing Doctor Who and Welsh showrunner Russell T Davies will return to helm the show, which he originally helmed from 2005 to 2010.
The October special will see John Bishop and Mandip Gill will be back as Dan and Yasmin, joining Jodie Whittaker. Also, Sacha Dewan will return as The Master for the as-yet untitled episode, and Patrick O'Kane returns as the Lone Cyberman.
