Anthony Gordon to Chelsea: Second offer ready, Everton stance, £45m bid rejected, Spurs interest

Chelsea have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window, with more business expected before the end of the August.

After losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers, the Blues looked to Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella as Thomas Tuchel reshaped his defence. Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta signed a contract renewal until 2024 ending speculation over the Spaniard's future.

England superstar Raheem Sterling made the move to Stamford Bridge with Thomas Tuchel still looking to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window slams shut, football.london understands. There has been a focus on signing players for the future after the arrivals of Gabriel Slonina and Carney Chukwuemeka, and now the Blues are looking at securing a deal for Everton starlet Anthony Gordon.

With that being said, football.london takes a look at all the latest speculation involving the 21-year-old potentially joining the west London outfit this summer.

Chelsea prepare second bid

Chelsea are set to return with a better offer for the Everton star, and though it won’t meet the £50m Everton believe is the player’s minimum value, it is getting closer.

The Blues can offer Gordon a much more enticing wage package, the appeal of Champions League football and a central role in Tuchel's plans to build an exciting, young Chelsea team for the future.

Player stance

It is understood that Gordon has indicated to Frank Lampard that he is keen on a move to Chelsea and wants the manager to consider the Blues' offer, as per The Mirror.

Everton are also aware that there has been informal contact with the 21 year old’s representatives, with Chelsea ready to offer a package that is hard to resist for the youngster.

Everton stance

Everton have made it clear that they do not wish to sell their star youngster with the club having offered Gordon the option to sign a new contract at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have rejected advances from Tottenham and Newcastle so far this summer, but with Chelsea now pursuing a deal for the 21-year-old, Frank Lampard may be forced into selling Gordon to be able to reinvest in the squad.

Jamie Carragher opinion

Jamie Carragher, who was speaking in the Sky Sports studio following Chelsea's dramatic 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday evening, cannot see Everton accepting £40million for their young attacker. He said: "That's a lot of money for a young player just coming onto the scene.

"I don't see how Everton would accept that right now. They're lacking attacking players and he's the one big hope for the club. He's a local lad and he's the one they are all hanging their hats on. I think it will have to be a lot higher than that (£40million) for Everton to accept that."

Chelsea £40m bid rejected

Chelsea have had a £40 million bid for Anthony Gordon rejected by Everton, sources have told ESPN.

Gordon, who has also attracted interest from Tottenham and Newcastle, is viewed as an exciting prospect for the future who could fill one of the three attacking positions in Tuchel's preferred 3-4-2-1 system.

Tottenham interest

Tottenham Hotspur are looking at the potential of bringing Everton's young winger Anthony Gordon to the club and could look at signing both him and Richarlison, football.london understands.

The 21-year-old left winger had a breakout season for Everton with 40 appearances for his hometown club after returning from a loan spell at Preston. Gordon notched four goals and three assists for Frank Lampard's struggling side last season and played his part in helping them evade relegation.
