Anthony Gordon drops major Chelsea transfer hint as Hakim Ziyech close to transfer exit

Everton winger Anthony Gordon has dropped the biggest hint yet that his £50million Chelsea transfer move will go through this summer before the September 1 deadline.

football.london understands that the Blues have had two bids in the region of £40m and £45m rejected for the young forward with the asking price set at around £50m. Todd Boehly is understood to want to include a few fringe players in the deal to reach the full valuation with Frank Lampard reportedly interested in the likes of Michy Batshuyai, Armando Broja and Billy Gilmour respectively.

So far, no agreement has been reached between the two clubs but talks are set to intensify not only with Gordon but also with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Wesley Fofana after the Blues' poor 3-0 defeat over the weekend at Leeds United. Manager Thomas Tuchel was not keen to use the transfer window as an excuse and as a direct solution to his sides woes in his post-match press conference but the understanding behind the scenes is that he's desperate for Boehly to at least bring in three more recruits before the window slams shut for business.

"I don't know. We need to wait. The transfer period is still open," Tuchel said on the current state of the transfer window with two weeks and a bit remaining. "It gets later and later, and we need to focus on what we have and what we can do. We can obviously play at a high level, but we lost track when there was no need. We were not forced to lose track. Everything was going well. We can win with this team in Leeds, everything was going well, and we had goalscoring opportunities. It went the other way, and I think it was more our fault than anyone else's credit."

With Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic's futures all up in the air with at least two expected to depart on different deals (loan/permanent) this summer, a new wide player will need to be signed to compensate for those exits.

Amid links to the likes of Wilfried Zaha and others, the 21-year-old has emerged as the prime target as the Blues attempt to sign their first Everton player since the Ross Barkley signing back in 2018.

It is understood that the Three Lions youngster wants the move to go through despite Lampard's reluctance to let him go following the big Richarlison exit earlier this summer to Spurs.

And he's doubled down on this stance if his latest social media hint is to be acknowledged. According to Everton fan @ben_efc_1878, the player in question has removed Everton from his Instagram bio as he seemingly prepares for a new chapter and new start in West London.
