Anthony Gordon dedicates hat-trick to Everton coach and sends honest Isaac Price advice
Anthony Gordon dedicated his hat-trick to Joe Edwards after admitting he had been working on his finishing with the Everton coach.
Frank Lampard’s side rounded off their mid-season trip to Australia with an emphatic 5-1 victory at the CommBank Stadium on Wednesday morning. Neal Maupay and Tom Cannon were on target for Everton, with Gordon also bagging a hat-trick. And speaking after the game, the winger detailed his work behind-the-scenes with Edwards.

He said: "I have been practising that particular finish for the third goal with Joe (Edwards) so I am really proud to see it come to light. It shows my dedication because I have missed that chance over and over again. I was tired towards the end of the game, already on two goals, I could have been satisfied but I wasn’t and it just shows that repetition in training has come to fruition, so I am really proud and big thanks to Joe as well.
“For me especially, this was a really good game to get a bit of momentum. I feel like I have been a bit out of form given my capabilities, so I think that was a big game for me. I’m not going to stop (over the break), I am not going to relax. I don’t think I’ve earned that."
Frank Lampard names Everton youngster who is in 'first team equation' after Australia tour
Frank Lampard said young star Isaac Price has put himself 'into the first team equation' with his performances during the club's trip to Australia.
The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Celtic and Western Sydney Wanderers, impressing in both Sydney Super Cup fixtures. His displays were all the more significant due to the lack of recognised senior central midfielders around him. Abdoulaye Doucoure lasted just the first half against Celtic, though managed most of the 5-1 win over Wanderers.
Since making his debut on the final day of last season, the teenager has travelled with the senior side to the US in the summer and now to Australia. And after another accomplished midfield performance, Lampard admitted he is very much in the first-team picture.
"I thought Isaac was great," the Everton boss said. "He's had a great trip. He has matured a lot and he has deserved to play because of the way he has trained and the way he has played for the Under-21s so he's thrown himself into the equation for the first team now."
