Anthony Edwards Briefly Exits Timberwolves Game After Awkward Collision With Nets Coach

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards appears to have escaped what could have been an unfortunate injury.

Late in the first half of a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center, Edwards was helped off the floor and into the locker room after appearing to roll his ankle on an awkward collision.

Edwards went down after nailing a three-point attempt from the corner. As he backed up, watching the ball sail through the rim, Edwards's feet got tangled up with Nets coach Jordi Fernandez near Brooklyn's bench.

Edwards tallied 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in 14 minutes in the first half before exiting the game. Fortunately, the 23-year-old star was seen warming up with the team during the halftime break and was back on the floor to start the third quarter.

In 73 games this season, Edwards is averaging a career-high 27.3 points while shooting 39.4% from three-point range.

The Timberwolves entered Thursday's slate of games with a 44–32 record—tied with the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 6 playoff seed in the Western Conference.
