Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $35,000 by the NBA for his actions during a recent game, bringing his total fines for the season to $320,000. The fine was imposed due to Edwards' failure to leave the court promptly after being ejected and for throwing the ball into the stands.
This season, Edwards has faced six fines from the league, primarily for his use of profane language in postgame interviews. The latest incident occurred during the Timberwolves' game against the Los Angeles Lakers, where Edwards received his 16th technical foul of the season, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension.
During the game against the Lakers, Edwards was ejected after receiving a second technical foul for directing profanity towards an official. The first technical foul was given to Edwards and Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt for a physical altercation on the court.
Following this latest incident, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch expressed hope that Edwards would learn from the situation and improve his behavior moving forward. Edwards, who is 23 years old, had previously stated his intention to avoid further technical fouls, as each additional two technical fouls would result in an increased suspension.
Despite the disciplinary actions taken against him, Edwards remains a key player for the Timberwolves, and the team will be looking to him to maintain his composure on the court in future games.
