Anthony Davis to ramp up rehab, could return by end of January

When Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis suffered a stress injury in his right foot on Dec. 16, just about everyone feared the worst as far as his prognosis.

But after just a couple of weeks, things had progressed nicely, as Davis said the pain in his injured foot had “subsided tremendously,” and things have gotten even better ever since.

After a brief losing streak shortly after his injury, the Lakers have started to figure things out, as they have now won five games in a row and six of their last seven.

Now the plan is for Davis to ramp up his rehab later this week when the team returns to Southern California. That ramp up will “involve aquatic pool workouts and running on an altered-gravity treadmill to keep the big man’s full weight off his foot while it continues to heal” according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

In fact, if things continue to go well, the team feels he could return to game action by the end of this month.

In the meantime, Thomas Bryant has been filling in admirably at the center position while putting up very strong numbers and giving it his all in the effort categories.

If the Lakers maintain their momentum for the rest of this month, they could surprise some people after Davis is activated.
