Just when Anthony Davis was playing arguably the best sustained basketball of his career, he suffered a stress injury in his right foot nearly three weeks ago and has been out of action since.
Davis also revealed he has a bone spur in the same foot that may require surgery this summer.
The Los Angeles Lakers returned home earlier this week after going 3-2 on a five-game road trip, and according to reports, Davis is continuing to make progress in his rehab from his injury.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the superstar big man is “relatively pain free” and that he has even started to do some running.
Woj: "The progress with Anthony Davis I'm told continues to be encouraging. Continues to be relatively pain free. He's started to do some running on the court. The next step I'm told for AD is jumping and then see how the foot feels then."#LakeShow pic.twitter.com/m8Ggb86136

In addition, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said Davis recently had another MRI and that he is “going right according to plan.”
Darvin Ham on Anthony Davis: “He’s going right according to plan.”
Ham confirmed Davis had another MRI recently.
“It’s right on pace with what we thought it’d be,” Ham added.

One has to expect that Davis is likely still at least a couple of weeks away from returning to game action. But this type of progress is very encouraging, and it appears a return sometime later this month could be realistic.
